CIM Issues #5947
Description classes inheriting from IdentifiedObject
61970-456
Description
In 61970-456 profiles some classes stereotuped with description inherit from IdentifiedObject. It will be better to remove the inheritance at profile level as this is done for other classes - such as ConnectiovityNode. In this way the RDFS will better match with the rules that are written in the standards i.e. that Description classes are only adding information and are not instantiated with name, etc.
Proposed Solution
Remove inheritances that are not needed.
(new and improved proposal)
We need a way to have a selective inheritance of attributes and associations in profiles.
Decision
Under consideration, constraints need to be reviewed. This issue is potentially broader than 456.
19-Sep-2024 Joint TF Hybrid Meetings - Minneapolis:
The current tooling doesn't do this. This is related to the new IEC 61970-501 Ed 2.0 and to the profiling approach that we have discussed. An example will be prepared as part of Redmine Issue #6350. Once that is completed the follow on Action Item is to create GitHub issues for both CIMTool and CimConteXtor and provide the examples for implementation.
