Description

There is a need for a way to differentiate between different types (families) of transformers. In some cases, only certain types of transformers are of interest to the consumer, in other cases different equipment tables might need to be populated, in other cases visualizations (icons) might be different. Several vendors in the 2022 GMDM IOP used a ‘heuristic’ approach for distinguishing types of transformers that relied on a) membership in a Substation container, b) the presence of TapChangerControl instance, and c) ratedU of low side winding of less than 1 KV as differentiators.

Decision

18-Sep-2024 Joint TF Hybrid Meetings - Minneapolis:

Reviewed and it is determined that more information is needed before proceeding.

- Understanding from the vendors that ask for this what is is and how they use "transformer type" for? What are the use cases? The GMDM Vendor forum currently underway would be an opportunity to find this out.
